Loretta Lynn.  The Most Awarded Lady in Country Music History with more than 60 years of recording and touring.  Inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Music Hall of Fame.  Recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors and the Presidential Medal of Freedom.  Winner of 4 Grammys, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.   Her life was celebrated in an Oscar-winning film, Coal Miner’s Daughter, which told the story of a fiercely independent woman, born and raised in poverty in a rural Appalachian hamlet with 7 brothers and sisters, who rose to become the undisputed Queen of Country Music. 

The performer who portrayed Loretta in the musical “It’s Only Make Believe” for over two decades, and who formed a close friendship with the legendary singer-songwriter, visiting with her for many years at Loretta’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills Tennessee, Emily Portman has joined forces and collaborated with original members of The Coalminers Band (Loretta’s long time backup group) to tell the story of this groundbreaking singer and songwriter, whose body of work defined a genre and whose songs have inspired a new generation of musicians.   You’ll learn why fans fell in love with Loretta’s instantly recognizable voice and distinctive body of work, with “shoot from the hip” songs that explore subjects like female empowerment, blue collar pride, sex, divorce, alcohol, and war.   It’s a show filled with fond reminiscences of Loretta’s amazing life plus authentically recreated performances of her greatest hits.
